moviefest

I've been on a massive movie watching stint the past few days, here's
the list and some thoughts:
Rumor Has It - An ok movie, I mainly wanted to see it for the actors.
I've always liked Kevin Costner's work, he's one of the best. Jennifer
Aniston is cool, not to mention hot. And I'm really starting to notice
Mark Ruffalo as a really good actor. He was great in 13 Going On 30
and he did a great job with this one too. The story ok, I guess it was
supposed to be a "funny" situation, but I didn't see it that way, so
it kind of left me flat.
The Astronaut's Wife - One word: JohnnyDepp. I'm embarking on a Depp
Week, as I'm going to watch the first pirates flick tomorrow before
going on weds. to see the second. This one was an odd little film, I
was surprised Depp did a flick like this as at the time he was doing
quirky type movies with great quirky characters. This was a pretty run
of the mill thriller with just a pinch of sci-fi thrown in. Still,
he's Johnny Depp, and I'd watch him sitting in a white room with
nothing but a chair and a phone book.
BloodRayne - Not to overuse the phrase, but this was also a run of the
mill flick, this time in the vampire genre. It was ok, a good way to
kill two hours, nothing new here. I found it odd that the film boasted
Michael Madsen, Billy Zane, and Ben Kingsley. I'll wait, read that one
more time...that's right, Ben Kingsley. Also, I thought the scene at
the end which recounted all the bloodshed throughout the movie was
totally unnecessary. Still, being a horror fan, I'm glad I checked it
out.
Spider-Man 2 - Best comic book movie ever? Not in this kid's eyes, but
certainly a great one nonetheless. Some very cool stuff in this movie,
Phil talks about capturing the essence, and that's just what this one
did. Of all the fun, great things that happened in this movie, my
favorite scene? "Go get em', tiger.".
Tomorrow...PIRATES!
