I have seen a lot of Johnny Depp films in my life. I have two

favorites. The first is "Edward Scissor Hands". In this movie he plays

a lonely creation of a scientist who dies and leaves him in an old

castle on the hill. He has scissors for hands. He wanders into the

town and sweeps Wynona Rider's character off her feet as well as

endears himself to the rest of the town. My second favorite Johnny

Depp movie is "Secret Window". It is a who-dunnit mystery at its

finest. He plays a disheveled writer who is still ailing from his

divorce. He begins to be harassed by a guy who claims that he wrote

Depp's character's recent best thriller and that Depp's character

plagiarized. I can't give away the rest of the movie but it certainly

kept my husband and I on the edges of our seat.

I liked the vulnerability of Depp's character in "Edward Scissor

Hands". We got to see his character in a very lovable yet multifaceted

light. However, in "Secret Window" his character was full of mystery

and cranky. It was hard to really like him and in that way he played

the character well. In that movie we started out to believe that he

was vulnerable but it morphed into something very different.

Now, in Depp's newest movie to hit theaters, he plays the vindictive

Sweeney Todd. A man who is upset for all that he lost and gets the

sweetest revenge imaginable on his enemies.

It is directed by Tim Burton, so we already know that the movie will

be fantastic in a dark, morbid comedic sort of way. Burton's vision is

always to show the bizarre and unimaginable in his movies. I am really

looking forward to it!
